Research on Connecting to Power Grid Engineering Solution for 500 kV Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

  • Superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is an effective measure to limit short circuit current in power grid. The equipment research and development of 500 kV SFCL has been greatly developed. This paper makes a study on connecting to power grid engineering solution for 500 kV SFCL. Firstly, working principle of SFCL is introduced, and fault type of SFCL is classified according to 220 kV and 35 kV SFCL situation in operation. Then based on the equipment characters and demand of power grid, a recommend single line scheme is represented which has advantages such as, more reliability, flexible operation, and easy construction etc. In the end, two layout solutions for different engineering environment conditions are represented.
