Abstract: The image reconstruction method plays a crucial role in successful applications of the electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) visualization measurement method. In this paper, a new imaging method was proposed to improve the reconstruction quality. In the proposed imaging method, a new cost function was put forward to convert the image reconstruction problem with the focus on the ECT imaging into an optimization problem. A new iteration method that encapsulates the advantages of the split Bregman (SB) method was developed to effectively solve the cost function. Numerical experiment results indicate that the proposed imaging method can ensure the numerical stability of the ECT image reconstruction and significantly improve the reconstruction quality. The findings of the study provide an effective method for the image reconstruction task in the ECT imaging.
